This page explains, plainly, what Vāṇi collects, why, and what you can do about it. If a sentence here ever feels evasive, write to us — that is a defect we want to fix.
Vāṇi (app identifier ai.vani.app) is built and operated as a single, small project. For anything on this page — a question, a correction, a request — write to hello@getvani.app. A person reads that inbox.
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address as provided by that sign-in method. If you choose Apple's private relay email, we store the relay address — we never see your real one unless you choose to share it separately.
Messages you send in Samvāda are stored so the conversation can continue coherently and so you can return to it later. See section 4 for exactly how these are processed.
If you keep a vow, mark a day, or use the counting practices, we store that record so it is there the next time you open the app. This exists to serve you, not to score you — nothing here is shared, ranked, or shown to anyone else.
Basic settings — your chosen theme, language, notification preferences — are stored so the app remembers how you like it.
We keep the number of outside parties small, and each one has exactly one job:
| Function | Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts & database | Supabase | Stores your account record, conversations, and practice data securely. |
| Purchases | Apple App Store, with RevenueCat for entitlement management | Processes payment and tells our systems what you're entitled to. Your card details never reach our servers — Apple handles payment directly. |
| Samvāda responses | A third-party AI processing provider | Receives the text of your Samvāda conversation to generate a reply grounded in the Bhagavad Gītā. |
| Analytics | PostHog | Tells us, in aggregate, which parts of the app are used — never the content of what you write. |
| Error monitoring | Sentry | Alerts us automatically when something breaks, so it can be fixed. |
We do not name the AI provider here because that relationship is a processing arrangement, not an endorsement — the point that matters to you is what happens to your words, covered next.
When you write to Vāṇi in Samvāda, that text is sent to a third-party AI processing provider to generate a response grounded in the Bhagavad Gītā. This is the only way the feature can work — we do not have our own model.
We do not sell your data, to anyone, for any reason. We do not use your conversations for advertising, and we show no advertising in the app at all, on any plan. Your words are used to answer you — not to build a profile of you for anyone else's benefit.
If Vāṇi detects that you may be in danger, the features that respond to that are free, permanently, on every plan — this is never gated behind payment. If you have set up a family alert, a notification is shared with the person you named, containing only what is necessary for them to know you may need support — not the content of what you wrote.
Deleting your account, from inside the app, removes your data from our systems. This includes revoking any linked Apple sign-in token, as Apple's guidelines require. If you delete a specific conversation rather than your whole account, it is removed from our systems on our standard deletion cycle.
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time — write to hello@getvani.app and we will act on it.
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection to processing. We are the data controller for the information described above.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell personal information, as defined by that law.
If you are in Australia, we handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988, including your right to access and correct your information.
Vāṇi is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, tell you inside the app.
